Hi,
We’re Afonso and Sofia – partners in life and in adventure.
Since the beginning of our story together, traveling has been the thing that unites us the most. Italy by train, Iceland by car, Indonesia by waves, and countless flights to unique places led us to our boldest decision so far: an around-the-world trip, leaving Portugal towards East (Australia, New Zealand) and coming back from West (South and Central America).
That was a journey of self-discovery that confirmed what we already suspected: traveling is when we feel most alive, connected and engaged with us and the world around us.
However, we also experienced the great impact good preparation has when traveling and how much effort it requires. Whether we searched and found high-quality experience-based travel information made it or broke it when we got to a new destination.
That led us here: to create an all-in-one-platform that combines common knowledge with trustworthy insights and inspiration, in a digestible way, so that we – and you – can prepare a good trip in an effective manner.

P.S: In late 2024, we became three of us. Baby Rafa has already visited 3 continents, with at least the 4th expected in 2026.
How each page is written
If you’re here, you’re probably searching for good information to prepare the best trip for yourself. What to expect, things to do, best time to visit, what and where to eat, how to move around, cultural tips… you name it.
Searching these keywords on Google either gets you and us very broad unpersonalised directories – call them the Trip Advisors and Lonely Planets of the web – or way too much personalised blogs – along with experiences and choices that are specific to the respective individual travelers that might not apply to ourselves (while missing out others that would).
We see each Know to Travel page as a combination of both categories: a place where you find the general information you must know beforehand – from widely known landmarks to comprehensive hiking maps or museum plants – matched together with experience-based tips, insights and pictures from real travelers that have just been there and done that.
To assemble these pages, we do everything we learned how to do when preparing our own trips: talking to people who have been there, screening blogs and social medias, asking LLMs, reading testimonials, etc.. After that, we digest all the information to draft a well structured and readable page that tackles each topic at its own pace and in its own order. In the end, we hope to have everything you and us need, in just one place, to prepare our trips.
